Social Studies
In 6th grade our focus is on Ancient Civilizations. We will begin with Mesopotamia and ancient Egypt. Other ancient civilizations we will explore include India, China, Greece and Rome. In our exploration of these ancient civilizations we will discover how different factors such as farming, geography, domestication of animals influenced those societies and the importance of the river valleys they were located on. We will also explore the scientific and cultural contributions, religious traditions including the major world religions. We end the year with an exploration how the Renaissance began and some of the major players and their contributions. Links for specific Units will be opened up as the year goes on. These pages will discuss the key vocabulary, key people, key events and essential questions for the unit. Additional links and resources may be added as well.
